New Ballance minimus trail are the best ever! !!!
I owned 3 pairs of puma h street previously which are not suited for trail at all, or slippery surfaces.
the minimus are totally comfortable and i wear them every day just also for walking (i do a lot of walking) and are very safe on slipery surfaces
and warmer than the h - street.
they do have a bit more cushioning than h-street, which is just fine for trails and stoney roads.!
Excellent shoe will buy one more, definately.
i had to get half a size bigger than i normally get.
i wear them with thin cotton short socks. but i think i will be wearing them barefoot in the summer.
i have them in black with blue details which is totally wearable with jeans and leather jacket . SO comfy you wont want to stop wearing them when returning home!

I have been using the Minimalist Trail for 3 months in Africa. Daily, I walk down a hill and through a market riddled by rocks, water, and refuse. Daily, I find my feet protected and comfortable. If these shoes can take the conditions that I have put them through in Africa, then they will hold up to anything that I have found in the US.

I would have loved to buy a pair of New Balance 800 shoes, but they only seem to come in one standard width fitting, whereas I always buy New Balance 2E in width, can someone from New Balance explain the reason for this please?

The new MR10's redefine minimilistic running! I see the pics here but no review?? Best combo of lightweight and cushion. Since Nike is only going with a 5 millimeter drop, I quit using them. The MR10 has only a 4mm drop and it's lighter! No comparison

This is all very well, except the images are from the Newton Running website. The actual images are from a movie showing heel strike versus forefoot strike:

Another shoe I'd look at is a New Balance MR790, which is kind of rare. If you're on the east coast, particularly the northeast, I'd recommend Nordstroms. It's lightweight (approx 7 oz.) and flexible and thin-soled. Only one thing that might be of concern is that is is marketed as a trail running shoe; personally, I run on blacktop or redtop all the time.

@John, I took a look around online and didn't find any MT100's in 14 or 15 size. Right now they are getting ready to release their follow up shoe, the MT101 in October so they've stopped making new ones. If you can wait until October you can probably snatch up the 101's which have made improvements over the 100 shoes. Good luck!
