The Bikila is awesome on many levels. It is very grippy. I ran on a concrete road the other day that was up and down hills and had alot of gritty dirt on it. I didn't slip once, and my calves were burnt! Usually my thighs are sore from hill running but the 5 fingers drastically change the way you run.
They are very comfortable, and feel very natural to walk in. The arch support helps alot with your natural foot roll, alleviating fatigue.
I was getting "hot spots" on my foot pads during the run, I imagine that will go away.
I'm a 215 lb guy and I have no issue from compression injuries or the like, but I'm also a very practiced forefoot runner.
I highly recommend these!!! Get them fitted at a store, I had to try 3 lengths to dial in the proper size.

I have 2 pairs of 5 Fingers (KSO, KSO Trek)...I'm a 54 yr. old Hiking Guide in Canada and Mexico, and have been guiding hikes totally barefoot for 15 years. I use my KSO's when on very rocky terrain or with a very fit/fast client. For the most part I really appreciate them. Some of the construction needs to be improved though. I have broken/wore through, the cinch strap that wraps from the heel to the velcro. It seems that the plastic retainer that the strap passes through is to sharp, and cuts the nylon strap. I even replaced the nylon with leather, but it too wore out.
I have received alot of interest in the 5 Finger concept...but caution new hikers who wish to try the Product to practice changing their walking style to a ball plant rather than heel plant through true barefoot walking (on grass) in order to reap the physiological benefits of our natural gait and foot contact points...otherwise, without the awareness to change the walking style many people will receive more compression injuries from heel to toe "side walk walking", when wearing the 5 Fingers.
