Coache Vic: Run away from bad training advice

Vic Gainer recently wrote a great article in a special to The Desert Sun on how running has evolved and how his life has changed since reading ‘Born to Run’ by Christopher McDougall. As he correctly observes, there are many misconceptions that people have about running from years of bad advice that has spread from generation to generation. One of the most severe of which is the ‘heel strike’ – as Chris wrote in his book, the way to run is not to let your heel hit the ground first; rather, you should let the ball of your feet touch the ground first before your heels with your knees slightly bent. That is the way to run for a life-time without injury.
