Who ever thought being fit and athletic could be so much more fun and stylish? One of the most innovative and “best inventions” to come in years, the Vibram Five Fingers Barefoot Shoe was developed with comfort, balance and athletics in mind. The shoes give you the capability to be in motion in a more natural, flexible and FUN way.
Vibram Fivefingers Jaya LR Women’s shoe features a more unique form that caters to the likes of most unconventional fashion making foot wear a little more literal than it may seem. Now you can actually wear your foot to more staineous activities while keeping your actual feel warm and snug. Although the Jaya LR Women shoe doesn’t look as solid as the normal rubber shoes we are used to seeing, it proves to be just as solid and tough as any other athletic apparel with the incorporation of the TC1 performance rubber pads at the heel, forefoot and toes. It has a stretch of nylon upper and leather overlays which is one of its more featured advantages for its flexibility and cling to the actual foot making kicking more secure and tight while maintain the same strength and agility. It allows more movement without having to compromise quality in fabric, durability and warranty.
Interestingly, Jaya LR features a mesh towards the heel of the shoe making room for air passage that may keep your foot more comfortable and release the heat of the body. It makes air passage possible to avoid odour and accumulated sweat to build up while you may be engaged in more physical activities through a 5.5mm EVA sole.
Finding the Right Size Vibram FiveFingers
It’s important when ordering the Vibram FiveFingers Classic that you get the right size shoe. Vibram uses the European shoe size system so you will need to measure your foot and use this conversion chart to find the right size for you.
|Foot Length (inches)||81â„8 “||83â„8 “||85â„8 “||87â„8 “||91â„8 “||93â„8 “||95â„8 “||97â„8 “||101â„8 “||103â„8 “|
|Women’s Jaya LR Size||34||35||36||37||38||39||40||41||42||NA|
Vibram FiveFingers recommends the following procedure for accurately measuring your feet:
- Stand with your heels flush against a flat vertical wall.
- Slide a ruler under each foot and measure the distance from the wall to the tip of the longest toe.
- Take the longer of the two foot measurements.
- If the the foot length varies more than 1/6 in. it will be difficult to get a precise fit for both feet.
- If your your second toe is more than 1/6 in. longer than your big toe it may be difficult to get a precise fit
Vibram FiveFingers Jaya LR Women Testimonials
|very pleased with this women’s style!|
This is my 2nd pair of Vibram 5 fingers; the first was a unisex Classic pair bought 2-3 years ago that I never wore much, just not as comfy as I first thought they would be. This Jaya LR style made especially for women is a huge improvement, both in comfort and appearance. I normally wear a 10.5 or 11 athletic shoe, bought the 42 and it’s perfect. The toes are closer together than on the old unisex style, and the rubber sole at the toe tips doesn’t seem to have that uncomfortable bumpy feel against my toes that the old 5 Fingers did. I ordered the Almond/Copper color, thought there would be a metallic sheen by my monitor but there isn’t, and I actually like it better than if it had been metallic. The Almond color is skin tone if you’re a light-skinned Caucasian like me, and that too was a pleasant surprise. I plan to use these for kettlebell workouts and general indoor fitness.
|Flexible, Ground feel is still good|
I’ve had my Jaya LR for a couple of weeks now, but they haven’t yet been through the wash. While they have softened, I expect even more softening after a wash (based on the behavior of my Sprints). Last weekend I alternated between the Jayas and the Sprints as I spent my waking hours managing a race team and driving the racecar.
At this point, I’d say my Jaya are about as flexible as my Sprints, but they’re flexible in different ways. The Sprints are more consistent – there’s one basic level of flexibility. If I hold the shoe in my hand and wiggle, the sole flexes and bends. With the Jaya, the behavior is different on different parts of the sole. If I just hold the shoe in my hand, it doesn’t flex as much as the Sprint. However, the texture differences between the performance rubber and the EVA are clear, and the areas of EVA are the areas where my foot flexes most. As a result, the shoes are quite flexible when I wear them. Ground feel is still good (I haven’t been able to make a good back-to-back comparison of my Sprints and my Jayas yet), but there is a bit more padding. For me, this padding is welcome. I still often heel-strike when I walk, and the Jayas have just the right amount of padding for a heel-strike on hard pavement. Switching from Jayas to Sprints, I feel a hard hit when my heel hits the ground walking. Switching from Sprints to Jayas, I don’t notice a decrease in ground feel.
I have noticed I get more comments about my feet / weird shoes in the Jayas than I did in the Sprints. I think this is because these are closer to flesh-tone, so people think I’m barefoot, then look a bit closer and see I’m not. Before, the “not-foot-colored” shoes were clearly shoes, of some sort, so didn’t really attract the eye.
